Worker Slipped and Bumped Controls

Worker Slipped and Bumped Controls

A South Australian employer has been prosecuted and fined $26,000 after a worker placed his leg in a gap between the frame of a machine and a hydraulic arm, slipped and bumped the controls which started the machine and crushed his leg in the gap.

The employer pleaded guilty to breaches of Section 19(1) of the then SA workplace safety Act, for failing to guard the crushing gap and failing to protect the controls from inadvertent operation.
