In October 2013, the Code of Practice for the Storage and Handling of Dangerous Goods 2013 (WorkSafe Victoria) came into effect. This replaces the old version of the code.
The new Code reflects changes introduced by the Dangerous Goods (Storage and Handling) Regulations 2012 for manufacturers, suppliers and occupiers. New layout includes practical examples and diagrams as appendices to help demonstrate what compliance looks like.
What do you need to do?
Review the new code and ensure your DG storage and handling practices are compliant with the new code.
Note: The practical guidance in the Code is not mandatory. You may choose to comply with your duties in some other way, provided what you do also fulfils the requirements of the DG (S&H) Regulations 2012.
Call Safety Action if you need help to ensure you comply with your obligations for DGS.
