New VIC Code of Practice โ€“ Building and Construction

31/10/2014

Replacing the 1999 Code and Implementation Guidelines, this new Victorian Government Code of Practice for the Building and Construction Industry includes the new requirement for projects >$10million to conduct random drug and alcohol tests and have best-practice security measures.

Other areas covered by this code include; workplace relations framework, drug testing rules, compliance with legal obligations, and workplace safety tender requirements. The workplace safety tender requirements revolve mostly around the Health and Safety Management Plan for projects.

To tender for any large State Government works, companies will be expected to demonstrate how their systems include key items from this Code.
