ISO 45001 is coming – are you ready?
The new standard is currently set for release in October 2016 and there is generally a three year transition period.
Whilst those familiar with AS/NZS 4801 will find the core elements similar, the new standard contains some changes, including clarification and expansion of obligations and responsibilities for organisations, particularly for top managers and in regards to their OHS management system.
Some of the Key requirements in the new standard are:
Determining external and internal issues that may affect its ability to achieve the intended outcomes of its OHS management system
There is greater emphasis of participation and consultation
The accountability of top management is extended
Identification of risks & opportunities
Hazard identification extended
Change management is now a stand-alone process
required to promote a positive OHS culture
