New Vic Psychosocial Regs

The Minister for WorkSafe Victoria has confirmed the government’s intention to commence new separate regulations on psychosocial hazards by the end of this year.

However, some of the requirements included in the earlier draft regulations have been deleted, including:

  1. Requirement to have a prevention plan in place detailing the risks associated with each identified psychosocial hazard, along with controls and consultation throughout the process, and

  2. Six monthly reporting to WorkSafe on reported complaints pertaining to; aggression, violence, bullying and sexual harassment.

Interestingly, the media release used the more common “psychosocial” terminology, as used in other Australian jurisdictions, instead of “psychological” term used in the earlier draft regulations.

We will provide an update when the proposed regulations are released.
