Claim Farming Banned
South Australia has followed Queensland, who banned claim farming back in 2022.
In essence, claim farming is where someone encourages another person to lodge a claim and receives a benefit eg commission for each claim lodged. This has typically involved health providers and legal firms encouraging claims in order to receive a benefit.
The South Australian Statutes Amendment (Claim Farming) Bill 2024 has passed Parliament and will affect claims made under the State Return to Work Act.
