New Workplace Exposure Limits: Is Your Workplace Ready?

Australia’s new Workplace exposure limits for airborne contaminants will take effect on 1 December 2026, replacing the current Workplace exposure standards.

Employers should review their risk assessments, air monitoring programs and control measures now, and confirm the applicable commencement dates with their state or territory regulator.

Some states have delayed or are reviewing selected WELs, with some commencement dates extended into 2028 and 2029.
